In Indonesia children 9-12 years old must go to school, that's the law.  However, for a lot of children from families with little or no money to spend on education, the only option is poorly staffed and poorly run government schools.  (If you can imagine schools with no library or labs you can start to get the image of the condition of most government schools.)

Even this option is not free and can become expensive for lots of families when you consider the fees required.  The fees include registering, testing, building fee, charity fee, buying books, uniforms, and paying for transportation. Even though the law requires children 9-12 years old to attend school a lot of families are forced to ignore the law because of the shame of not having enough money, even for government schools.

We know we can't change the condition of government schools in Indonesia, but we hope to help some of the children get the education they so desperately desire.  Getting an education is the key to making a difference in a global world.  We know the educated children will grow up and help make the future better for those that follow.

RMS International, Inc. has set up an education fund to help children in rural villages attend the few private schools, which do provide a much better education.   Children are selected from families that work and produce the products we offer for sale and the fees are paid directly to the school.
